Yup. This is me, posing with a rainbow of silk threads hand-dyed by my Turkish friend, Musa Başaran. He’d weave his designs into small silk kilims, which he then had reproduced into beautiful wool kilims by weavers in an Aegean village. Sadly, the dear man is no longer with us.

LESSONS LEARNED IN TURKEY
In this memoir I share my experiences adapting to life in a country far different from my north woods Minnesota home—a country and a people that I came to adore in spite of my battles with language and loneliness.
In seven years I learned a lot about the rich culture and warmth of Turkey, and I wrote this book to share these things with you.
